Easter Egg Bunnies

To create bunnies, have kids cut 2 ears and 2 feet from a piece of construction paper. You can pencil the shapes for them to cut. Have them fold the bottom edge of each ear, apply a thin line of glue to the edge and apply to the egg. They may need to hold the paper to the egg for a few moments in order for it to adhere.

When dry, suggest kids fold one ear down over itself as a way to give the bunny character. Follow the same process to add the feet. Apply dots of glue and set the egg onto the feet.

Children may need to fold the paper up around the egg a bit for the feet to stick. Show kids how to draw eyes, a nose and a mouth onto the egg to create a bunny face. Or use wiggly eggs. If yarn is available, children may want to cut pieces to glue onto the egg as whiskers. Or use basket filler made from paper like the picture shows for whiskers. Take the whiskers and cut to size then tie a piece around to hold them together before you glue it to the egg. Remind kids to remember the bunny tail! Have them glue a pompom onto the egg to complete the look.

Kids can dot on eyes with a marker. They might also want to glue on feathers for a little extra embellishment. Plain white or brown eggs work well for this project. For added pop, pink eggs for bunnies. Parents can help children glue on the pieces with a glue gun.

Feedback from Crafts Mom

This craft is so much fun to make, my children just adored making these Easter bunnies from dyed eggs. I used the recipe for egg dye made from food coloring and hot water and vinegar, to dye the eggs for these bunnies. The glue seems to stick so fast and adhere right away to an egg I recommend using this if you can. The tails get in the way of them balancing so be sure to place them high enough up if you want your bunnies to stand up.
