  • Try singing. Your child surely has a song they like to listen to. Try singing this song out loud with your child when they’re in the bathroom.
  • Use a special potty. There are tens of thousands of potties on the market. There are even ones that change toilet water color or produce different shapes when fluid hits it. Pretty soon, going to the bathroom will seem like a fun game for your child.
  • Set up a potty chart. Each time they use the potty, they can color in a star.
  • Read together. Go to the bookstore and pick out a few books that your child can’t wait to read. When it’s time to go into the bathroom, bring the books with you.
  • Target practice. You’ve probably heard the Cheerios trick, but your son can also use colored ice cubes to practice his aim. You can make the ice cubes together with colored food dye.
  • The wonders of surprise. Go to the store and pick out a few cheap items that you can throw into a basket. After a day of good potty training, let your child pick one of the items out of the basket.
  • Let them flush. It may not seem like a big deal, but your child will be proud of the fact that they have something to flush down the toilet. Let them flush the toilet, but only when they go to the bathroom.
  • Fun soaps. Nowadays, soaps came in all different colors and textures. Buy a foaming soap or something else your child thinks is cool and let them wash their hands with it every time they go to the bathroom.
  • Color the water. Put red or blue food coloring in your toilet. When fluid hits the water your child will be amazed that they can change the color of the water to orange or green.
