I've been waiting for this day forever! It's still dark outside as Dad is putting the skis in the back of the SUV. I feel the cold air on my cheeks and as I say: "Time to go!" I can see the clouds of steam form from my breath. The drive to the ski run from the Lodge is only about 10 minutes but it seems like FOREVER. We finally get there. First things first. I grab my jacket and put it on. OOps. I should have taken off my snow boots and put on my ski boots first. I'm huffing and puffing as I bend over to buckle them in place. Good thing Dad is looking and he comes over to help me. How come he does everything so fast? Now, I zip up my jacket and walk to to the back of the SUV. "Dad, I can carry my skis", I say. So he gives them to me. As I turn, to head towards the lift..."Whoa!"Dad says. I almost hit him with the back end of the skis. Forgot they're as long to the back as they are to the front. Now we start walking. Sort of. The snow is cruuunching, under my boots. I hit a slippery spot and whoops I almost fall down. Dad reaches out and grabs the back of my coat and keeps me up. It's really cool to have a Dad that seems to know what's going to happen before it ever does. The line to get on the lift is pretty long. But we're here. I'll let you know how it goes in just a bit.
