Teaching children the importance of maintaining responsibility and tasks can be intimidating, but easing them into greater commitments can be done via various chores around the house. Chores are a great introductory task to give to children to show them how to complete a task and then see a clear end point once their job is complete; this can mean anything from sweeping the kitchen floor to taking out the trash cans every week, each of which has evidence when the task at hand has been completed. Simply print out one of the chore charts and write down what tasks and responsibility you want your child to have on various days of the week, and develop a clear metric to measure your child's responsibilities in an organized fashion. From there you can increase your child's responsibilities and give them a greater sense of accomplishment when they finish everything assigned on the list, and subsequently reward them in anyway you find appropriate. It is important to help children recognize that chores are a part of everyday life and doing little tasks add up and overtime understanding how to take on more responsibility will help fuel the bigger picture of living a cleaner and more organized life.
