When you have children, they are bound to make messes. Once they get older, you can actually have them clean up their own messes by assigning them chores. The easiest way to make sure that all of the chores get done is to develop a chore chart. Each child will get their own chart. On the chart, you will write down what their chore is. It could be sweeping, taking out the trash, doing the dishes, or whatever else you might need to be done. To the right of the description column, there are columns for each day of the week. This way your child can put a checkmark or a sticker after they have completed their chore. You can hang this chore chart on your refrigerator or in some other common area. Allowing your child to mark it off by their self will give them a sense of accomplishment. Plus, it will help you keep track of what has been done. You can even make them a deal if you want to. If they are able to fill in their chore chart for two weeks in a row, then you can take them out to dinner or do something else that they would find enjoyable.
