Having good manners a gateway to a healthy and happy life. The child that adopts the concept of good manners is adhering to societal rules that will lead to a less stressful life. We are all governed by a set of rules. Most of these rules are taught as we grow up. Following and applying these rules in our daily lives leads to becoming functional, healthy adults. Having good manners will get you places that bad manners won't. The act of respecting your surroundings will impress and influence people that surround you. This can put you in places that are healthy and advantageous to your future position in life. Teaching this concept to children is easy as long as you have guidelines that you and the child can follow. Learning to apply these guidelines will become 2nd nature as you practice these daily in your everyday activities. The concept of good manners is a life long lesson that can be adapted to fit any social situation that you might find yourself in. Using good manners is a sign of intelligence and appreciation that goes along with a higher level of education and standing. People do not want to live with a pig. Pigs do not have good manners and that is why we do not live with pigs.
