Rewards are a great way to motivate little ones and can lead to surprising and positive results. The bright stickers can be used to encourage children to complete math and reading tasks they don't particularly enjoy but are influenced by the positive reward of a sticker even if they didn't totally grasp the lesson in its entirety. Just via the act of trying, kids can be encouraged that failure is also a positive trend if they are rewarded for effort. One of the great things about the variety of stickers, all made for free with your simple color printer, is that educators and students can have their own language. Instead of the traditional, A, B, C, D, and F grades, stickers can have different values. A caterpillar, for example, might mean, great try, keep it up. A ladybug might mean you are really catching on. A bumblebee might represent you are ready for the next level. After all, what do traditional grades really mean? Teachers and parents who use stickers as rewards often achieve breakthroughs with kids that other grade systems do not do, including building up self-esteem for those who need it the most.
